Wichita County, TX – The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a deadly two-vehicle accident that claimed the life of Francisco Javier Munoz Jr., a 24-year-old male from Wichita Falls on Friday night.

The deadly accident occurred around 8:20 p.m. on September 13 on US Highway 287, about 3 miles west of Iowa Park.

According to DPS, the accident involved a vehicle operated by Francisco Munoz Jr. and a truck tractor towing a semi-trailer.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Munoz Jr. crossed over the center median, through the cable barrier, and into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the truck tractor.

The truck tractor hauling the semi-trailer caught fire following the incident

Munoz Jr. was fatally injured and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The truck driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The deadly incident remains under investigation.
