Fort Worth, TX – The authorities have confirmed that the driver of the semi-truck involved in multi-vehicle traffic collision that left one person dead and another seriously injured in Fort Worth early Thursday was intoxicated.
The fatal accident occurred just before 1:30 on West Loop 820 South Freeway and White Settlement Road.
According to Fort Worth police, construction in the area reduced traffic to one lane and that traffic was a stop when the driver of a tractor-trailer driver failed to stop and crashed into a vehicle, pushing it into another vehicle.
The driver of one of the vehicles sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger from the vehicle whose driver died was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The tractor-trailer driver, identified as 24-year-old Guadalupe Velazquez, was also hospitalized.
Authorities said officials conducted a field sobriety test and determined that Velazquez was intoxicated at the time of the incident. Velazquez later consented to provide a sample of his blood.
The incident remains under investigation.

According to the police, a semi-truck collided with multiple other vehicles on the freeway.
