Lubbock, TX – According to Lubbock Police, a 60-year-old Synder man identified as Dane Powell was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle following a fatal traffic collision that left one person dead at an intersection in Lubbock Friday.

Lubbock police identified the deceased as Danny Adam Vasquez, Sr., 49.

As per the police, the deadly incident occurred at Highway 84 and County Road 7200 on Friday.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety,  Powell was driving a pickup truck in the center crossover of the highway and pickup was over the left lane of travel.

DPS said Vasquez, who was riding a motorcycle in the left lane,  hit the rear of the pickup truck and lost control.
Vasquez sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. DPS said he was as wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

Authorities said Powell was determined to be intoxicated at the time of the collision. He was subsequently arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle.

The accident remains under investigation.
