Ector County, TX – A 39-year-old motorcycle rider, identified as Robert Montes, of Odessa, was killed after colliding with a vehicle in West Odessa Wednesday afternoon, according to Sergeant Steven Blanco with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). Manuela Rayos Castillo, 69, of Odessa was also injured in the accident.

According to the DPS, the deadly accident happened at 3 p.m. on October 10 on South Moss Avenue.

DPS officials said Montes was traveling southbound on Moss Avenue in a 2007 Harley Davidson Motorcycle. At the same time,  Castillo, driving a 2008 Land Rover LR2, was exiting a private drive and attempting to turn north onto Moss.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Castillo failed to yield the right of way and Montes crashed into the Land Rover. Montes was ejected from his motorcycle on impact and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Castillo sustained minor injuries and was taken to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

This deadly incident remains under investigation.
