IDENTIFIED: Jesus Rosas Killed in Hartley County Truck Accident

Hartley County, TX – The Texas DPS has identified the semi-truck driver who died after slamming into a semi-trailer that detached from another truck on FM 281, about 11 miles east of Dalhart as Jesus Castillo-Rosas, 31,  of Dumas.

According to the DPS, Rosas driving a 2022 Mack truck tractor towing a semi-trailer westbound on FM 281 when he crashed into a semi-trailer that detached from a 2015 Volvo truck tractor.

DPS said the Volvo was exiting private drive and made a right-hand turn to head eastbound on FM 281 when the semi-trailer detached and came to rest blocking both lanes.

Rosas could not avoid the collision and struck the semi-trailer. Rosas’ truck turned around upon the impact, overturned, and came to rest in the south ditch.

Rosas was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hartley County, TX – One person was killed Thursday morning after his vehicle struck a semi-trailer in Hartley County, according to a Texas DPS report.

The accident happened at about 6:40 a.m. on October 10 on FM 281.

According to the DPS, a 2022 Mack truck tractor towing a semi-trailer was traveling westbound on FM 281.

At the same time, a 2015 Volvo truck tractor towing a semi-trailer, pulled out of a private drive and made a right-hand turn to head eastbound on FM 281.

As the Volvo was turning, the semi-trailer detached from the truck. The semi-trailer stopped, blocking both travel lanes of the road.

The driver of the 2022 Mack was unable to avoid the detached semi-trailer and crashed into it.

The Mack turned around, overturned, and came to rest in the south ditch.

The Mack driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
