The deadly accident happened in the area of Eastex Freeway and Greens Road

Houston, TX – Two people were killed and another was injured in a two-vehicle traffic collision that caused one of the cars to catch fire on I-69 in Houston Tuesday afternoon, according to the Houston Fire Department.
The accident happened at about 3:30 p.m. in the area of Interstate Highway 69 and Greens Road.
According to the fire department, one of the two vehicles caught fire following the collision.

According to HPD, a gray GMC Sierra pickup truck and a white Mercedes-Benz C-Class were traveling southbound on the I-69 when the driver of the Mercedes made an unsafe lane change onto an exit ramp to the North Sam Houston Parkway and was hit by the GMC.
Both vehicles overturned and were disabled on the right shoulder of the freeway. The Mercedes then burst into flames.
As per the HPD, Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced two passengers – a male and a female – in the Mercedes dead at the scene.
The driver of the Mercedes, identified as a 30-year-old man, was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
The driver of the GMC, a 29-year-old man, was not injured.
The southbound lanes of the freeway were shut down for about seven hours as deputies and fire personnel worked at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
