Jones County, Texas — A 78-year-old Merkel woman, identified as Bonnie Kinard, was killed following a two-vehicle accident in Hawley Wednesday morning, according to Hawley Police Department.

Hawley Police Department said Kinard was traveling eastbound on Farm-to-Market 605 when she reportedly ran a stop sign and struck the side of another vehicle that was traveling southbound on Highway 277.

Police say Kinard sustained multiple fractures in the incident. She was transported to a hospital where she later died.
The driver of the second car, identified only as a middle-aged man, sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital by private vehicle.
