Killeen, TX – Six people were injured, one seriously, in an accident at an intersection in east Killeen Sunday night.
The accident happened shortly before 9 p.m. on October 20 in the area of East Stan Schlueter Loop and East Central Texas Expressway.
Killeen police and Killeen Fire Department officers responded to the scene and found a gray Nissan and a red Jeep utility vehicle involved in the collision at the intersection.
Killeen police said a preliminary investigation revealed that the Nissan was traveling southbound on Stan Schlueter Loop when it ran a red light at the interaction and was hit by the Jeep. The Jeep was traveling eastbound on the Central Texas Expressway, which is the access road for Interstate 14.
The impact caused the Jeep to roll over onto its side, authorities said.
Police said five occupants of the Jeep sustained minor injuries in the incident. The Killeen Fire Department ambulance transported the patients to Baylor, Scott and White Medical Center in Temple.
The driver and sole occupant of the Nissan sustained serious injuries and was airlifted by helicopter to the medical center. The driver was listed in stable condition on Monday, according to Killeen police.
No additional information was provided.
The accident remains under investigation.
