Trent, TX – A 76-year-old man, identified as Larry Dean Morris, was killed after being hit by a vehicle while crossing the street in Trent on Monday evening, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The deadly accident happened at about 6:44 p.m. on November 4 on Northwest 1st Street.
According to the DPS, preliminary investigation revealed that a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by 17-year-old Rylie Cayden Lemay of Trent was traveling westbound on Northwest First Street.
Larry Morris Dies in Collision With Pickup Truck in Trent
At the same time, Larry Morris was traveling eastboub along the shoulder of the lane for westbound traffic on the same street in a motorized mobility device.
As Morris came to the intersection of Northwst First Street and Oak Street, he went into westbound traffic lane right in front of the pickup truck, and was hit.
Morris was taken to Hendrick Medical Center North where he was pronounced dead at about 7:32 p.m. the same day.
Authorities said the intersection is unlit and the mobility device did not have any reflectors or lights.
Lemay was not hurt in the incident.
No additional information was provided.
The collision remains under investigation.
