Sunnyvale, TX – A 34-year-old man was killed in a traffic collision involving a wrong-way drivr in Sunnyvale early Sunday morning, according to Sunnyvale police.
The deadly collision happened on US-80 just west of Lawson Road.
According the Sunnyvale police, a driver, identified as 22-year-old Edgar Cortez, of Kaufman was traveling east in the westbound lanes of US-80 when he collided with a Dodge Challenger.
Mesquite City League Football Coach Jonathan Washington Dies in Collision Involving Wrong-Way Driver on US-80
A person, idenified as 34-year-old Jonathan D. Washington was killed in the collision. Police said Washington was a Mesquite City League football coach.
Cortez was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and intoxication manslaughter, police said, adding that he is currently Mesquite city jail
An investigation into the deadly collision is underway.
