Harris County, TX – A 7-year-old girl who was killedin a collision involving a suspected drunk driver in northeast Harris County on Sunday has identified as Ivory Giselle Smith.

Ivory Smith, who was a 2nd-grade student at Klenk Elementary School in Klein ISD, was in a vehicle driven by  her mother, Christina, when a vehicle operated by Joel Gonzalez Chacin, 45, slammed into them in the 10900 block of the Bammel North Houston Road at Sam Houston Parkway at about 12:45 a.m. on Dec. 1.

Ivory’s mother was seriously injured and remains hospitalized.

Harris County, TX – A 7-year-old girl was killed and a female driver was injured after their vehicle was hit by a suspected drunk driver in northeast Harris County early Sunday, according to a police report.

The deadly collision occurred at about 2:45 a.m. on December 1 in the 10900 block of the Bammel North Houston Road at Sam Houston Parkway

Police said Joel Gonzalez Chacin, 45, slammed into a car at the intersection.

A woman who was operating the other vehicle was injured. Her passenger, a 7-year-old girl was killed in the collision. The name of the girl was not immediately released.

Police said Chacin was intoxicated at the time of the collision, adding that, “instead of helping the victims” the suspect took photographs. Chacin was arrested and his bond set $150,000.

No additional information regarding accident was provided.

The collision remains under investigation.
