DPS identified the victims as David Calvert Jr. 81, of Amarillo, Daylee Overton, 20, of Panhandle, Emma Carroll, 19, of Sublette, Kansas, and a 17-year-old male.

The deadly collision happened on westbound US 60 near County Road 8, about six miles west of Panhandle, at about 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18.

DPS said that a preliminary investigation showed that Calvert was driving a 2021 Jeep Compass eastbound in the inside westbound lane of US-60 when he collided head-on with a 2021 Ford Fusion traveling westbound in the inside westbound lane. Both vehicles caught fire in the collision.

Calvert, who was heading in the wrong way, Overton, Carroll, and the 17-year-old male were all killed in the incident.

The collision remains under investigation.

Four people are dead following a two-vehicle collision on US 60 in Carson County Wednesday evening, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

DPS troopers said the fatal collision occurred on westbound US 60 near County Road 8 at about 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18.

According to the DPS, two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision.

Both vehicles caught on fire after colliding.

The DPS confirmed that four people were killed in the incident. The identities of the victims were withheld pending notification to the next of kin.
