Montague County, TX – The Texas DPS has identified a woman who died in a head-on traffic collision in Montague County early Saturday as 66-year-old Shelley Gene Jewell.
According to DPS, Shelley Jewell was driving a 2013 Kia Soul southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 81 and collided head-on with a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling northbound with two adults and two children.
The deadly incident happened at about 5:23 a.m. on December 28 near Fruitland Road.
Shelley Jewell was pronounced dead at the scene. An adult and a child in the Tohaoe were hospitalized with minor injuries.

Montague County, TX – A woman was killed following a head-on traffic collision on US 81 early Saturday in Montague, according to Texas DPS.

One person is dead, and two were hospitalized after a head-on collision in Montague County.
According to Texas DPS a 2013 Kia Soul driven by a 66-year-old woman was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling northbound with two adults and two children.
Shelley Jewell Killed, One Adult and One Child Injured in Montague County Two-Vehicle Collision on US 81 Early Saturday
After the collision, the Tahoe overturned and stopped across both northbound lanes while the Kia came to rest at the center median.
DPS said the driver of the Kia was pronounced dead on the scene.
One adult and one child from the Tahoe were transported to Medical City Decatur with non-life-threatening injuries.
No additional information was provided. The collision remains under investigation.
