Lubbock, TX – A woman was killed in a collision between two vehicles in Lubbock on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The wreck happened at the intersection of the 5800 block of East County Road 6300 and Highway 62/82 on Wednesday, January 29.
According to the report, Virginia Castano-Marquez, 64, was sitting in a vehicle parked along the eastbound shoulder of Highway 62/82 when her vehicle was hit by an eastbound car driven by Karrie Merritt, 49.
The impact sent both vehicles across the barrow ditch and onto East County Road 6300.
Marquez, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Merritt was not wearing a seatbelt and was taken to University Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
The incident remained under investigation.
