Cavazos was taken to Medical Arts Hospital in Lamesa where he later succumbed to his injuries

Dawson County, TX. – One person was killed in a collision involving an 18-wheeler on Friday night in Dawson County.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident happened around 8 p.m. on US 87 near mile marker 342.
44-year-old Edith Hernandez was driving a 2001 Freightliner northbound on the highway and was rear-ended by a 2014 Ford F-150, driven by 44-year-old David Cavazos.
Cavazos was taken to Medical Arts Hospital in Lamesa where he later succumbed to his injuries.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
