Garland, TX. – One teen was killed and another was injured in a collision on Saturday night in Garland.

According to the Garland Police Department, the deadly collision happened around 10:15 p.m. on East Oates Road near the intersection of Miami Drive.

30-year-old Stetson Ybarbo, of Rowlett, was driving a pickup truck eastbound on the highway when he veered off the road and struck a 14-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy on a sidewalk before crashing into several parked cars.

The girl died in the crash while her brother was hospitalized with serious injuries.

The names of the children were not disclosed due to their ages.

Ybarbo abandoned his vehicle at the scene and fled but was later apprehended at his home in Garland. He was taken to Garland Jail on charges of failing to stop and render aid involving death and failing to stop and render aid involving serious bodily injury.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
