Hutchinson County, TX – Two people were killed and another was injured Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision in Hutchinson County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The deadly accident occurred around 4:26 p.m., June 2, on State Highway 136, about four miles south of Stinnett.
DPS said a 2025 GMC 2500 pickup was traveling northbound on the highway when it lost traction on standing water, hydroplaned, crossed into the southbound lane, and was struck on the passenger’s side by a 2000 Ford Windstar.
The Windstar driver, Cody Brooks, 37, of Borger, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. His passenger, Jeremiah Rodriguez-White, 42, of Dumas, was taken to Golden Plains Community Hospital in Borger where he later died. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The GMC driver, Chad Clift, 43, of Amarillo, was taken to Golden Plains with non-life-threatening injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
It was raining at the time of the accident.
The DPS is investigating the accident.
