Dickinson, TX. – An off-duty Lakeview police officer died after being struck by a car as he rode a motorcycle to work on Tuesday morning.

According to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened on the feeder road of I-45 near FM 517.

Officer Larry Blacksmith was off-duty but was in uniform and was riding his personal motorcycle to work when he was struck by another vehicle.

Blacksmith was killed in the accident.

No charges have been filed.

An investigation is ongoing.
