The fatal accident happened around 2:13 a.m. on August 2 at the intersection of Elgin and Smith Streets.

Midtown, TX – The two people who were killed on Saturday in a two-car accident in Midtown have been identified as Jayden Flemming, 22, and Ronnie Burns II, 22, according to the authorities.
The fatal accident happened around 2:13 a.m. on August 2 at the intersection of Elgin and Smith Streets.
Authorities said deputies with Harris County Pct. 7 observed a black F-150 hitting two cars without stopping in the 2700 block of Smith Street. They tried to stop the truck, but the driver sped away at a high rate of speed, running several red lights. It ran a red light at Elgin and Smith Streets and collided with an eastbound white Lexus.
The impact caused the Lexus to spin out, hit a building, and catch fire.
Both occupants of the Lexus, Flemming and Burns II, were pronounced dead at the scene. They were in town for the annual Texas Greek Picnic and had recently graduated from Florida A&M University.
The suspect, 21-year-old Rene Hernandez, was taken to the hospital for treatment. Once he is released from the hospital, he will be taken to the Harris County Jail. He is facing two counts of murder. A female passenger in the truck was taken to the hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.
The authorities are investigating the accident.

The suspect, 21-year-old Rene Hernandez, was taken into custody and was charged with two counts of murder. He had a strong alcohol odor and slurred speech when he was being apprehended.
A female passenger in the truck was taken to the hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
The authorities are investigating the accident.
