Ector County, TX – One person was killed and three others were injured Friday evening in a two-vehicle accident in Ector County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The fatal collision happened around 7:15 p.m. on August 8 on US 385 at mile marker 342.
DPS said 22-year-old Carlos Ramos, of Amarillo, was driving a 2015 Peterbilt with a trailer in the outside northbound lane of the highway.
Jesus Padilla, 40, of Andrews, was driving a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 southbound in the inside lane of the highway.
Ramos had a front left tire blowout, which caused him to lose control, cross the center median, and drive northbound in the southbound lanes. He attempted to cross back over through the cable barrier to avoid oncoming traffic, and he struck Padilla.
The front passenger in the Chevrolet, 33-year-old Johnny Saenz of Andrews, was taken to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, where he later died.
Ramos, Padilla, and another passenger in the Chevrolet, 40-year-old Sergio Mingura of Andrews, were taken to MCH with minor injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
