Sutton County, TX – One person was killed and another was injured Friday morning in a two-vehicle collision in Sutton County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The fatal collision occurred around 11:30 a.m. on August 8 on U.S. 277 about 4 miles north of Sonora.
DPS said a 2017 Dodge Ram pickup driven by William Edward Ringland, 58, of Victoria, was traveling northbound when it crossed the center stripe into the southbound lane.
Carlos Martinez Salazar was driving a 2023 Peterbilt truck tractor towing a semi-trailer southbound. He attempted to steer right to avoid the collision but was unable to, and collided head-on with the Dodge Ram.
Ringland was pronounced dead at the scene.
Salazar was taken to Lillian M. Hudspeth Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
The weather conditions were clear, and the road was dry at the time of the accident.
The authorities are investigating the accident.
