Rockport, TX – A man was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a scooter accident in Rockport, according to the police.

The accident happened on August 12 at the intersection of Business Highway 35 and Pearl Street.

Police said a man was riding an electric scooter westbound on Business 35 at a high rate of speed when he might have run a red light at the intersection and hit a silver Dodge pickup that had a green light.

The man was taken to the Rockport Emergency Room with facial injuries.

Electric scooters are not allowed on Texas Department of Transportation highways. Failure to obey traffic signals and heavy traffic were factors in the accident.

The police are investigating the accident.
