San Jacinto, TX – Forty-five inmates were injured last Tuesday in a bus accident in San Jacinto, according to the Texas DPS.
The accident happened around 10:46 a.m. on August 19 on U.S. Highway 59 south of Shepherd.
DPS said a 1999 Motor Coach Transit Bus, which was transporting inmates, was traveling northbound when it failed to control its speed and rear-ended a northbound 2018 Toyota Sienna. The impact pushed the Sienna into a concrete barrier.
Forty-five occupants in the custody of Lasalle corrections were taken to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Jail with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Motor Coach, 39-year-old Albert Dauzart of Natchitoches, La., was uninjured.
The driver of the Toyota, 44-year-old Abid Prasla of Sugarland, was also uninjured.
The Texas DPS troopers are investigating the accident.
