Copperas Cove, TX – The two people who were killed Wednesday evening in a multi-vehicle accident in Copperas Cove have been identified as Nasryth Antonio Funes,21, of Fort Hood, Texas, and Eisleer Jose Castillo Gomez,27, of Orlando, Florida, according to the Copperas Cove Police Department.

The deadly accident occurred around 7:39 p.m. on August 27 on U.S. Highway 190.

Police said a vehicle tried to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone at a high rate of speed, when it lost control and was hit by another vehicle that was traveling in the opposite direction. The accident resulted in a chain-reaction collision involving six vehicles.

One of the vehicles caught fire.

The driver of the vehicle that was attempting to pass, Funes, and the passenger, Gomez, were pronounced dead at the scene.

One person was airlifted to the hospital for treatment. Another person was taken to the hospital by ambulance in stable condition. A third person was treated and released at the scene.

The police are investigating the accident.
