Moss Hill, TX – A 21-year-old Lufkin man was killed on Tuesday in a two-vehicle collision north of Moss Hill, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal collision occurred around noon on September 9 on State Highway 146 just south of the Snake River Subdivision.

DPS said a 2017 Freightliner tractor-trailer truck was traveling northbound and was attempting to pull into the driveway of a gravel pit.

The tractor-trailer pulled into the path of the Lufkin man’s 2018 Ford Fusion that was traveling southbound, resulting in a collision.

The Lufkin man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was identified as Mateyah Janea Powell, 25, of Beaumont.

The accident closed SH 146 for several hours.

The authorities are investigating the accident.
