Lamb County, TX – One person was killed and two others were injured Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision in Lamb County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal collision happened around 1:49 p.m. on November 19 on US 84 near Amherst.

DPS said Lori Moyer, 53, of Fort Sumner, New Mexico, was driving a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado westbound and was passing a 2017 Peterbilt truck-tractor towing a trailer.

Moyer steered right and crashed into the left side of the semi-truck. She continued driving until she overcorrected and rolled over into the northbound lane.

Lori was taken to Brownfield Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. She was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Her two passengers, Art Moyer, 75, of Fort Sumner, and Janis Moyer, 76, of Fort Sumner, were taken to UMC with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both passengers were wearing their seatbelts.

The semi-truck driver, Derrick Benson, 37, of Sutherlin, Oregon, was uninjured in the accident. He was wearing a seat belt.

The DPS is investigating the accident.

Lamb County, TX – A woman was killed Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision in Lamb County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal collision happened around 2:00 p.m. on November 19 on US 84 near Amherst.

DPS said Lori Moyer was driving a Chevy pickup truck westbound and was passing a semi-truck that was pulling a trailer.

Moyer steered right and crashed into the left side of the semi-truck. She continued driving until she overcorrected and rolled over into the northbound lane.

Moyer was pronounced dead at the scene. Her two passengers were taken to UMC with non-life-threatening injuries.

The semi-truck driver was uninjured in the accident.

The DPS is investigating the accident.
