Houston, TX. – One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Thursday evening in Houston.
According to Houston police, the accident occurred in the 7100 block of Memorial Drive at around 8 p.m.
A vehicle was travelling westbound at a high rate of speed and rear-ended another vehicle, pushing it into the eastbound lanes
The speeding vehicle crashed into a retaining wall after losing control and hitting the light pole.
The driver of the speeding vehicle, a 17-year-old, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area as significant delays were expected until the roadway is reopened.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
