The fatal collision happened at about 3:13 p.m. on December 6 at the intersection of Montana Avenue and Desert Meadows Road.

El Paso, TX – One person was killed, and three others were seriously injured Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision in Far East El Paso, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
The fatal collision happened at about 3:13 p.m. on December 6 at the intersection of Montana Avenue and Desert Meadows Road.
Deputies said Gerard Anthony Nelson Jr., 29, was driving a black Chrysler 300 eastbound on Montana at a high rate of speed when he ran a red light at the intersection and hit a black Ford Focus that was traveling northbound on Desert Meadows Road.
After the collision, the left tire of the Ford Focus broke off and embedded into the Chrysler. The engine from the Ford Focus also broke off and hit a utility pole.
One of the passengers in the Ford Focus, 60-year-old Lucia Villa, was ejected from the vehicle and was taken to Sierra Providence East, where she later died.
The other three passengers in the Focus were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Nelson was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries. He was found to have been under the influence at the time of the accident. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail Annex, where he was charged with intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and two counts of intoxication assault with vehicle (serious bodily injury). His bond was set at $650,000.
The collision remains under investigation.
Montana Vista, TX – Four people were injured Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision in Montana Vista, according to the authorities.
The collision happened around 3:45 p.m. on December 6 on Montana near Desert Meadows.
Authorities said two vehicles were involved in the collision.
One person was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries. Another person was taken by ambulance to the hospital with serious injuries.
Two other people were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
The accident closed both directions of Montana Avenue for several hours.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Special Traffic Investigations Unit is investigating the accident.
