Winkler County, TX – The man who was killed Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle collision in Winkler County has been identified as Rafael Diaz Hernandez, 38, of Fort Stockton, according to the Texas DPS.
The fatal collision was reported around 7:20 a.m. on December 23 at the intersection of State Highway 302 and FM 1232.
DPS said a 2023 Ford F-550 was traveling eastbound on SH 302 while Hernandez was driving a 2026 Ford F-250 northbound on FM 1232, approaching the intersection.
Hernandez was traveling at an unsafe speed for the heavy fog conditions, and impaired visibility. He ran the stop sign and hit the Ford F-550.
Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene.
The DPS is investigating the accident.
