The fatal collision happened around 7:30 pm. on January 7 at the intersection of State Highway 302 and Farm-to-Market Road 866.

Ector County, TX – A man was killed Wednesday evening in a two-vehicle collision in Ector County, according to the Texas DPS.
The fatal collision happened around 7:30 pm. on January 7 at the intersection of State Highway 302 and Farm-to-Market Road 866.
DPS said Derek Wayne Pearson, 49, of Bellville, was driving a 2022 Ford F-250 westbound in the inside lane of SH 302 while a 2024 Peterbilt 567 towing a trailer was traveling southbound on FM 866.
The Peterbilt failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign, causing the trailer to block the westbound lanes, and was struck by the Ford.
Pearson was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The Peterbilt driver was uninjured in the accident.
No additional information was released.
The troopers are investigating the accident.
