Galveston, TX – A driver was killed Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision in Galveston, according to the authorities.
The fatal collision happened at about 1:45 p.m. on January 19 in the northbound lanes of Interstate 45 at the base of the Galveston causeway.
Authorities said a Jeep rear-ended a traffic safety-signage flatbed truck that was either picking up or dropping off a flashing lane-detour sign.
The Jeep driver had to be extricated and was taken to the hospital, where they later died. Their identity has not been released.
The collision closed several northbound lanes for several hours.
