Hartley County, TX – Two people were killed, and another was seriously injured early Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle collision in Hartley County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal collision occurred around 4:45 a.m. on January 27 at the intersection of FM 281 and FM 2577, about 11 miles south of Dalhart.

DPS said a Ford minivan was traveling eastbound on FM 281 while a Honda Accord was traveling westbound.

The minivan attempted to turn onto FM 2577, turned directly into the path of the Honda, and was hit on the passenger side.

The minivan driver, 23-year-old Juan Lopez Mendoza of Cactus, and the passenger, 22-year-old Manuela Gomez Rallos of Cactus, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Honda driver, 31-year-old Aura Hernandez Gomez of Dalhart, was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

No other details were available.

The troopers are investigating the accident.
