Driver Killed and 2 Passengers Injured in Richardson Train Crash at Spring Valley Road and Buckingham Road
Richardson, Texas (January 4, 2019) – A driver was killed and two other people were injured Thursday morning in a train accident in Richardson, according to a local news source.
The tragic crash occurred just before 6:00 a.m. Thursday, January 3 near the intersection of Spring Valley Road and Buckingham roads.
Authorities said the driver ignored the crossing arms and was struck by a northbound Red Line train.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and extricated the driver. The victim was then transported to a hospital and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Two passengers on the train were also injured in the collision. One of the patients was transported a hospital with unspecified injuries.
The deadly accident affected commuters who use DART’s Red and Orange lines. Both were closed between the LBJ/Central, and the Spring Valley stations and passengers were transferred to shuttle buses.
The crash remains under investigation.
