1 Injured, 2 Horses Killed in Crash at SH 359 at CR 798 near Mathis

One Injured and Two Horses Killed in Mathis Crash at SH 359 and CR 798

Mathis, Texas (October 24, 2019) – One person was injured and two horses were killed Wednesday evening in a traffic accident north of Mathis, according to a local news release.

The crash happened on Wednesday, October 23, in the area of State Highway 359 and County Road 798.

Deputies said officers and searchers on horseback were looking in the area for a driver who fled from DPS following a traffic stop earlier in the evening.

A Ford Mustang then struck two of the horses.

None of the riders were injured but the horses were killed in the crash.

The Mustang driver sustained injuries in the crash.

An investigation is ongoing.
