Laredo, Texas – Two people were injured early Monday morning in a school bus crash in Laredo, according to the Laredo Police Department.

The crash occurred around 7:30 a.m., May 20, on Loop 20 near Clark Blvd.

Police said a UISD school bus was exiting the loop when an SUV in front of it made an abrupt stop. The bus driver was unable to make a complete stop in time and struck the SUV.

The bus was taking 45 students to Gonzalez Middle School when the crash occurred. One student and the driver of the SUV were taken to LMC for treatment.

The remaining children were taken to school on the same bus with a different driver. The other bus driver underwent drug and alcohol testing as per UISD protocol.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
