Killeen, Texas – Two people were seriously injured Friday night in a DWI crash in Killeen, according to the police.
The crash happened around 11:03 p.m., January 5, on WS Young Drive near Central Texas Expressway.
Police said a red Dodge SUV crashed into a marked Killeen Police patrol vehicle around 10:57 p.m., at the intersection of N. 10th St. and Santa Fe Drive. The officer in the crash was not seriously injured.
The SUV driver fled the scene and the KPD unit did not chase the suspect, due to vehicle damage from the crash.

Both occupants in the Honda were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The Dodge driver, a 27-year-old man, was arrested at the scene and taken to Seton Medical Center Harker Heights with minor injuries. He was then taken to the Killeen City Jail.
The crash closed the intersection of Central Texas Expressway and WS Young Drive for several hours.
The crash remains under investigation.
Common Causes of Automobile Accidents
There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality. At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.
