2nd Grader Killed in Borger Accident at Gateway Elementary

Borger, TX – A child was killed in an accident that occurred in Borger on Friday morning during school drop-off, according to the Borger Police Department.

The accident happened at Gateway Elementary School at about 8 a.m. on January 24, 2025.

According to the police, a 2nd grader’s coat became stuck in a car’s door as the child was being dropped off at the school.

School officials and first responders performed life-saving measures on the child at the scene.

The child was then rushed to Golden Plains Community Hospital, where the victim succumbed to their injuries.

The identity of the child was not immediately released.

The accident is under investigation.
