21-Year-Old Man Killed in Ector County Crash with 18-Wheeler on State Highway 302
Ector County, Texas (January 6, 2018) – A Gladewater man died Friday night in a collision involving an 18-wheeler truck in Ector County, according to the Department of Public Safety.
The crash took place on SH 302, approximately eight miles west of Odessa at about 8 p.m. on Friday, January 5.
DPS said a 2017 Ford pickup truck was traveling eastbound on State Highway 302 when it crashed into the back of an 18-wheeler truck.
After the crash, the pickup truck swerved across the westbound lanes and stopped at an open field on the side of the highway.
The pickup truck driver, Cody Serviss, 20, of Odessa and his passenger, Austin Alexander, 21, of Gladewater, were both ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
They were both rushed to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, where Alexander was later pronounced deceased. Serviss was hospitalized with serious injuries.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured in the crash.
