Christopher Vargas Killed in a Big Rig Accident on SH 158 and East County Road 160 in Midland County
Midland County, TX – One person, identified as Christopher Aaron Vargas, 26, of San Angelo, was killed in a collision with a big rig in Midland County early Tuesday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The incident took place on State Highway 158 and East County Road 160 at about 6:43 a.m. January 21.
According to DPS, Vargas was driving a 2021 Ram 2500 westbound on SH 158 in the outside lane when he crashed into the rear of a 1996 Freightliner with a trailer.
The big rig was driven by Jesus Daniel Mesa-Pena, 27, of Tomball.
The DPS reported that Vargas died following the accident.
The accident is under investigation.
