Douglas Wheeler Bicyclist Fatally Hit by Vehicle on FM 2527 near FM 580 in Lampasas

19-Year-Old Douglas Wheeler Killed in Lampasas Bicycle Accident on FM 2527 near FM 580

Lampasas, Texas (May 21, 2019) – The bicycle rider who was fatally hit by a vehicle in Lampasas on Sunday afternoon has been identified as Douglas Wheeler, 19, of Kempner, according to the DPS.
The crash took place at about 12:15 p.m. Sunday, May 19, on FM 2527, just north of FM 580.
According to the DPS report, Wheeler was traveling along the side of southbound FM 2527 when he was hit from the back by a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck that was being driven by 68-year-old Curtis Windham Sr. of Lampasas.
Wheeler sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
