Heriberto “Eddie” Santillana Killed, Jonathan Andrew Alvarez Arrested After Fabens Car Crash on Alameda Avenue near Oil Mill Road

Fabens, Texas (April 23, 2019) – An alleged drunk driver was arrested following a three-vehicle crash that killed a Fabens High School teacher on Friday in Fabens, according to the deputies.

The fatal crash happened at about 2:00 p.m. April 19, on Alameda Avenue near Oil Mill Road.

Deputies said a maroon Chrysler 300 was traveling westbound on Alameda Avenue when it collided with a white Dodge Ram which was turning northbound onto Oil Mill Road. The Chrysler then veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a silver Suzuki Forenza driven by Heriberto “Eddie” Santillana, of Fabens.

Santillana and two other people were taken to the hospital.

Santillana later died.

Jonathan Andrew Alvarez, 23, was arrested on suspicion of intoxicated manslaughter. He was booked Saturday into the El Paso County Jail on a bond of $800,000.

The crash remains under investigation.
