Jayton Read Injured in Stephens County Two-Vehicle Crash on US Highway 180
Stephens County, Texas – A woman was killed and another person was injured Monday night in a two-vehicle crash in Stephens County, according to the Texas DPS.
The fatal crash happened just after 10:00 p.m., April 22, on US Highway 180 inside Breckenridge city limits.
DPS said Shayden Ramsey, 22, of Breckenridge, was driving a 2017 Honda Civic when she failed to yield to the right of way while turning out of a parking lot onto the highway. The Honda was then struck by a westbound 2009 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, driven by 18-year-old Jayton Cole Read.
Ramsey and Read were transported to Stephens Memorial Hospital where Ramsey later died. Read was treated for non-incapacitating injuries and released.
No further details were available.
The DPS is investigating the crash.
Common Causes of Automobile Accidents
There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality. At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.
