Robertson County, TX – Two men were killed in an 18-wheeler accident early Tuesday morning in Robertson County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal collision occurred around 4:07 a.m. on October 6, on northbound Highway 6 at Pin Oak Creek, south of Hearne.

DPS said a Freightliner tractor was northbound on the highway and was either stoppe

d or moving slowly. It was believed to be having mechanical and lighting problems with the lights on the trailer, which were not working.

A northbound 1999 Peterbilt then rear-ended the Freightliner’s trailer. The impact pushed the Freightliner up into its cab.

Jose Lopez-Diaz, 58, of Hearne, who was driving the Freightliner, died at the scene.

The Peterbilt driver, 41-year-old Janson Angstadt of Navasota, was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are investigating the collision.
