Diboll, Texas (November 20, 2017) – According to Texas Department of Public Safety, a woman from Eagle Pass succumbed to injuries following a collision involving two vehicles that occurred Friday afternoon in Diboll.
The crash happened on Friday, November 17, on U.S. Highway 59 near Clarks Ferry Road.
Police said 24-year-old Lesley Cortez-Ferniza, was declared dead at CHI St. Luke’s Health-Memorial at about 4:50 p.m. Friday, November 17.
Reportedly, Cortez-Ferniza was driving north in a 2007 Ford passenger car in the inside lane when, for unknown reasons, she drove off the roadway, entered the grass median and rolled over several times before hitting a 2017 Nissan passenger vehicle driven southbound by 19-year-old  by Brandon Miley, of Baytown.
Authorities said Miley was also taken to CHI St. Luke’s for treatment, and his condition remained unknown.
