Motley County, Texas – One person was killed and two others were injured on Thursday in a wrong-way crash in Motley County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The deadly crash occurred around 12:28 a.m., June 20, on US 62, approximately 5.2 miles east of Matador.

DPS said Roger Mason, 80, of Lake Village, was driving westbound on the wrong side of the highway when he crashed into a westbound passenger car driven by Lino Garcia, 73, of Floydada.

Mason’s vehicle came to rest in the westbound lane and Garcia’s car stopped in the grassy area north of the roadway.

Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Margarita Garcia, 72, of Floydada, was transported to University Medical Center in Lubbock with incapacitating injuries.

Mason was also transported to UMC in Lubbock with incapacitating injuries.

All passengers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

The weather conditions were clear and cloudy and road conditions were dry.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
