Lorri Garst Fatal Hit-and-Run Car Crash on North Central Freeway in Wichita Falls; Steven Ray Douglas Arrested

Lorri Garst ID’d as Woman Killed in Wichita Falls Car Crash on North Central Freeway near Bacon Switch Road
Wichita Falls, Texas (November 17, 2018) – The woman who was killed in a hit-and-run car crash on a freeway Thursday evening in Wichita Falls has been identified as Lorri Garst, 53, of Wichita Falls, according to the authorities.
The deadly crash happened at about 6:30 p.m. November 15, on North Central Freeway near Bacon Switch Road.
Authorities said Garst was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer on the freeway when she collided with another vehicle driven by Steven Ray Douglas, 57, of Burkburnett, for unknown reasons.
Douglas drove across the median and sped away after the accident.
The Explorer rolled over after the impact and Garst was ejected.
Paramedics responded to the scene and found two women attempting to pull Garst from the southbound lanes and out of traffic.
Garst died at the scene.
Douglas was later arrested; he had covered the damage to the vehicle with a piece of carpet.
He has one count of being in a crash involving injury or death. His bond was set at $5,000.
The crash remains under investigation.
