Man, 57, Killed in Hempstead Highway Collision on December 22; Terrell Twitty Arrested

Houston, TX – A 57-year-old man was killed after his vehicle was struck by another vehicle traveling at high speed on Hempstead Highway in Houston

The deadly accident happened at about 3:40 p.m. on Sunday, December  22 in the 12800 Hempstead Highway.

According to HPD, Terrell Juan Twitty, 52, was driving a black Jeep Grand Cherokee westbound on Hempstead Highway at a high rate of speed and struck a white Ford F-150 that was pulling out of a parking lot and crossing the westbound lanes to go eastbound on Hempstead.

The impact pushed both vehicles into eastbound lanes.

The driver of the Ford, a 57-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics. The identity of the victim was not released pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Twitty sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. HPD said Twitty showed signs of intoxication. He has since been arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 487th State District Court.

The accident remains under investigation.
