Marco Hernandez Killed, Louis Grammer Injured in Head-On Crash on FM 730 near Decatur

Decatur, Texas – One person was killed and another was injured early Friday morning in a head-on collision south of Decatur, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 5:50 a.m., May 31, on Farm Road 730 near County Road 4181.

DPS said Marco Tavarez Hernandez, 23, was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu southbound while a 2021 GMC Sierra was traveling northbound.

Hernandez was driving at an unsafe speed for the wet road conditions, when he lost control, traveled into the northbound lane, and crashed head-on into the Sierra.

Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sierra driver, 69-year-old Louis Elbert Grammer of Decatur, was transported to Medical City Decatur with minor injuries.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
