Mariah Enriquez Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway in Port Isabel; Hugo Lara Arrested
Port Isabel, Texas – A woman was killed early Sunday morning in a wrong-way crash in Port Isabel, according to the DPS.
The fatal crash happened around 1:45 a.m., June 2, on the eastbound lanes of the Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway.
DPS said 48-year-old Hugo Ernesto Lara of McAllen, was driving a 2023 white Ford F-150 westbound in the eastbound lane when he crashed into an eastbound 2008 red Kia passenger car, driven by 20-year-old Mariah Desiree Enriquez of Edinburg.
Enriquez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lara was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter. He was taken to the Cameron County Jail.
The DPS is investigating the crash.
