Mario Saenz ID’d as Man Killed in El Paso Scooter Accident on Gateway North near Diana Drive
El Paso, Texas (September 21, 2018) – The man who was killed Thursday morning in a scooter crash with a car in northeast El Paso has been identified as Mario Saenz, 57, of Anthony, New Mexico, according to the El Paso police.
The deadly accident was reported at about 9:00 a.m. September 20, along the 9400 block of Gateway North near Diana Drive.
Authorities said Saenz was riding a Wolf scooter when he failed to yield the right-of-way to a vehicle driven by Zeus Woods, 19, of Fort Bliss, resulting in a collision.
The impact ejected Saenz from his scooter, and he sustained serious injuries.
Saenz was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The accident shut down the gateway between Diana and the EPCC Transmountain campus for about three hours.
The crash remains under investigation.
